NSF/ANSI/CAN 50 – 2020 Equipment for Swimming Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs and Other Recreational Water Facilities

The “NSF/ANSI/CAN 50: 2020 — Equipment and Chemicals for Swimming Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs and Other Recreational Water Facilities” standard, published by NSF International, establishes minimum requirements for design, materials, construction, and performance of equipment, systems and chemicals used in both residential and public pool/spa environments. The scope covers components such as filters, pumps, valves, chemical feeders, UV systems, water-quality test devices, and piping materials. This edition superseded the 2019 version and incorporates new sections including treatment chemicals and updated testing protocols for turbidity reduction and Cryptosporidium oocyst reduction. The standard is referenced in many U.S. national and state pool codes and is an important resource for specifying compliant pool and spa equipment.
