      Swimming Pool Specialty Contractors may not contract directly with the public. They must work under a licensed commercial pool/spa, residential pool/spa, or  pool/spa servicing contractor.  Any person who desires to become a swimming pool specialty contractor shall apply to the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB) of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) in writing on a form provided by the Department. A person shall be certified as a swimming pool specialty contractor if:

       

      • At least eighteen (18) years of age
      • Of good moral character (you will need fingerprints, a background check & credit check)
      • Has four (4) years of experience in the category seeking licensure or a combination of college and experience. 
      • Has provided a practical examiner grade report demonstrating that you have passed the required practical examination.
      • Has provided CILB-approved education provider certificates indicating completion of one hour each of workplace safety, business practices and workers’ compensation courses.
