What Is a South Carolina Swimming Pool Contractor?

A South Carolina Swimming Pool Contractor is a licensed professional authorized to construct, install, service, and repair residential and commercial swimming pools, spas, and related structures. This includes concrete and shotcrete work, pool plumbing and wiring (in accordance with NEC Article 680), pool finishes, filtration systems, and adherence to health and safety regulations.

Contractors must be knowledgeable in structural concrete, reinforcing steel placement, water circulation systems, pool code compliance, and pool operation and maintenance standards. To become licensed, candidates must pass the Swimming Pool trade exam and the Business & Law exam administered by the South Carolina Contractor’s Licensing Board.
