How Does Montana Master Electrician Licensing Work?

Montana licenses Master Electricians statewide through the Montana State Electrical Board. The Master license reflects advanced responsibility for planning, laying out and supervising electrical installation and repair.

Applicants generally qualify through either 8,000 hours of legally obtained journeyman-level experience in planning, layout or supervision, or through the qualifying accredited electrical-engineering degree route with practical experience.

The current Montana contractor materials allow an unlimited electrical contractor to perform residential, commercial, industrial and institutional electrical work.
